The City of Fircrest identified the aging community center and pool as the highest priority in their PROS plan.  To gather community input, ARC and the design team facilitated 5 public meetings during concept planning, and building and pool design phases.  The meetings were well attended with lively discussion and lots of interest and ideas.  The design team worked with a Steering Committee, Parks Department, and City Council to include ideas and address project concerns.  The site is a beloved and well used park in the heart of Fircrest.  The design places the buildings at the edge of the park to preserve the green space for events, sports, and community activities.

The primary outdoor pool has six 25-yd competition lanes with starting blocks, 12 foot deep end with diving board, and large open swim area that slopes from 42" to 60" with a vortex.  Wide stairs and a long underwater bench are great for teaching swim lessons.  The toddler pool has bubblers, dumping buckets, and wide stairs, and is separated by a low turquiose blue railing.   The bathhouse includes generous locker rooms, 2 family changing rooms, and 2 restroom just for park users, as well as guard offices and pump room.  A large party room has an adjacent serving kitchen and is open year round for community events and celebrations.
