Bellevue Ashwood Park
Bellevue, WA
City of Bellevue has collaborated with MacLeod Reckord Landscape Architects and ARC Architects for the design of Ashwood Park. Located adjacent to the Bellevue Library, the large park is a currently an open lawn with limited picnic table seating. Site improvements proposed by the team include Children's play areas, terraced seating, and a multi-use plaza. The design maintains much of the existing open lawn space that is desired by the community for flexible events and play.
ARC provided three design options that displayed a wide range of organizational strategies, as well as potential aesthetic expressions, while paying homage to the contextual surroundings of the park and the City of Bellevue’s identity. With a landscape design strategy that softens the harsh edges of the existing property while maintaining existing greenspace, this project is designed to provide a welcoming respite within a busy city.
